
Wood has been the most important good for making sea constructions such as bridges, loading ports, breakwaters, dhows and so so. In Persian the word of "dhow" means walking gracefully; May this meaning comes from that because this kind of wood ships move slowly on the water. In Persia (Iran), the kind of dhows that have no motor called "Jahaz"; In past the dhows had a sail but nowadays almost all of them have motor and they are used for fishing, passengers transportation and porterage on the water of the Persian Gulf, the Oman sea, the Indian Ocean and recently in the Caspian sea.
